The Plattepus Waterfest is held in and around North Platte, in central Nebraska where the North and South Platte Rivers come together. It is a vibrant region with a long history that includes the Oregon Trail, Buffalo Bill’s Wild West shows and the Union Pacific Railroad. Come early, stay late and soak it up!

Events are scheduled for July 14, 2007.

July in North Platte can bring cool mornings, hot days and warm evenings. Your enjoyment of all events will be enhanced if you use lots of sunscreen, wear lightweight protective clothing and bring an umbrella to make yourself a patch of shade.

Activities and events are intended to be family friendly. We encourage extravagantly creative clothing and costuming, but it should not be offensive in a group that includes all different ages and backgrounds.

Net proceeds from the waterfest benefit the local homeless shelter, The Connection, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation that works to meet the basic needs of the homeless in our area and bring each one a step closer to home. This year funds will go toward the building of a new shelter in North Platte. To find out more, click here: The Connection.

Scientists thought that the first platypus specimens were elaborate hoaxes because they couldn’t imagine animals that lay eggs, nurse their babies, have bills like ducks, tails like beavers and webbed feet.
